Tempered, laminated, and insulated glass units are different jobs. Guards, showers, and doors carry mandatory safety-glazing rules in BC — we spec the right glass for Metro Vancouver homes and storefronts.
Standard window glass. Breaks in shards. Not for doors, showers, or guards.
Heat-treated safety glass. Breaks into small cubes. Required at many hazardous locations.
Two lites with an interlayer. Holds together when broken. Preferred overhead.
Two or more lites with a sealed cavity. The foggy-window product.
A coating that reflects heat. Standard on replacement IGUs in this climate.
Inert gas fill in the cavity. Lost when the seal fails — defogging does not restore it.
Without the green edge of standard float. Visible on tabletops and thick panels.
Privacy without film. Common in bathrooms and entry sidelights.
Guards and railings, doors and sidelights, glazing adjacent to tubs, showers and pools, overhead glazing, glass near stairways and landings. Laminated is preferred for overhead and sloped glazing where people are underneath. Requirements depend on the installation. We confirm per project.
Most glass repair jobs — foggy sealed units, broken windows, shower glass, storefronts — can be quoted from a photograph and two measurements. Same-day pricing across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
